摘要: This study assessed physician performance in detecting the apical S3 gallop using a cardiology patient simulator. Six physicians (two fellows, two medicine residents, and attending physicians) performed sets of 24 cardiac examinations that included presence or absence an gallop. All examiners were able to significantly alter prior odds gallop’s being present, but fellows had higher sensitivities. Sensitivity was lower for soft gallops, specificity when diastolic murmur also present. Physician gallops is variable, can be excellent.
