Spectral-Domain Measurement of Strain Sensitivity of a Two-Mode Birefringent Side-Hole Fiber

摘要: The strain sensitivity of a two-mode birefringent side-hole fiber is measured in the spectral domain. In simple experimental setup comprising broadband source, polarizer, under varied elongations, an analyzer and compact spectrometer, interferograms are resolved. These characterized by equalization wavelength at which interference fringes have highest visibility (the largest period) due to zero group optical path difference between fundamental, LP01 mode higher-order, LP11 mode. with processed retrieve phase as function wavelength. From retrieved functions corresponding different elongations test, obtained. Using this approach, intermodal was for both x y polarizations. Moreover, polarimetric fundamental when delay line used tandem fiber. Its dependence also compared that obtained from shift not including wavelength, good agreement confirmed.
