摘要: Agricultural land use to meet the demands of a growing population, changing diets, lifestyles and biofuel production is significant driver biodiversity loss. Globally applicable methods are needed assess impacts hidden in internationally traded food items. We used countryside species area relationship (SAR) model estimate mammals, birds, amphibians reptiles lost (i.e. ‘committed extinction’) due agricultural within each 804 terrestrial ecoregion. These estimates were combined with high spatial resolution global maps crop yields calculate per ton for 170 crops 184 countries. Finally, linked bilateral trade data products between producing consuming countries from FAO, embodied international consumption. found that 83% total loss incurred agriculture devoted domestic consumption whereas 17% export production. Exports Indonesia USA China embody highest (20 at regional level each). In general, industrialized capita GDP tend be major net importers developing tropical Results show not good proxy flows, as occupying little such sugarcane, palm oil, rubber coffee have disproportionately impacts.
