Synthesizing a policy-relevant perspective from the three IPCC “Worlds”—A comparison of topics and frames in the SPMs of the Fifth Assessment Report

摘要: Abstract The paper investigates topics, emphases, frames and absences in the Summary for Policymakers parts of three Working Group reports IPCC 5th Assessment Report Synthesis Report. It explores similarities differences by using various tools lexical discourse analysis, combining quantitative qualitative methods. main results are these: First, each Group’s reflects not only distinctive mandate but also a intellectual framing. Second, although there some significant emphases given to different themes from Groups, covers topics other Summaries, constitutes relatively integrated summary complete Third, we find though that centrally follows up risk framing language which prominent II semi-absent as part constructing policy-relevant statement reports. In addition, makes use linguistic devices contribute ‘amplify’ strength statements, transferring messages effectively scientific context policy-maker audience. Fourth, style tone Summaries conduce important imbalances emphasis: victims climate change (particular groups vulnerable people) remain virtually invisible unlike impacts nature ecological systems or aggregate economic impacts, correspondingly challenges, options opportunities action underdeveloped analysis.
