摘要: The Work Group addressed the design and content of a basic screening battery for detecting or flagging developmental neurotoxicity. It was agreed that should be incorporated routinely into any reproductive toxicity study conducted risk assessment purposes, "triggered" stand-alone neurotoxicity study, as exemplified by current EPA proposal, include greater in-depth evaluation CNS function pathology. Time constraints did not permit group to address such study. acknowledged unanimously may provide more information than simply detection neurotoxicity; however, it expected detailed dose-response nor identify precise mechanism agent action. also multiple functions, observed alterations indicative primary secondary effects on nervous system, test methods selected differ based what is known about agent, protocol conduct can important employed. In light these assumptions, recommended schedules monitoring offspring development using measures of: 1) physical landmarks, 2) brain weights, 3) neuropathology, 4) functional observations, 5) motor activity, 6) reactivity, 7) learning memory. species tested, sample sizes, treatment parameters, etc., would determined type which incorporated.(ABSTRACT TRUNCATED AT 250 WORDS)
