摘要: Emission reduction targets as well the scarcity of fossil resources make a transition energy system towards carbon free electricity supply necessary. Promising are solar and wind energy. The challenging characteristics high temporal geographic variability these systematic analysis integration Subject this study is how such renewable-based ideally should be designed. We investigate optimal structure prospective power on two different scales: global European level. paper describes applied simulation technique employed to combine an adequately precise geographical coverage with resolution. A linear optimization algorithm determines cost configuration prescribed system. As results we obtain ideal mixes, generation sites, storage interregional transmission capacities required for scenarios highly renewable supply.
