摘要: 5HT3 receptors (5HT3Rs) have long been identified as a potential target for antidepressants. Several studies reported that antagonism of 5HT3Rs produces antidepressant-like effects. However, the exact role and mode antidepressant action 5HT3R antagonists still remain mystery. Here, we provide comprehensive overview 5HT3Rs: (a) regional subcellular distribution in discrete brain regions, (b) preclinical clinical evidence supporting effect antagonists, (c) neurochemical, biological neurocellular signaling pathways associated with antagonists. located on serotonergic other neurotransmitter interneuronal projections control their release affect mood emotional behavior; however, new suggests apart from modulating functions, protective effects pathogenic events including hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal-axis hyperactivity, oxidative stress impaired neuronal plasticity, pointing to hereby unknown novel mechanisms action. Nonetheless, further investigations are warranted establish depression
