摘要: Over the last decade, there has been increased interest in role of gut microbiome health including brain health. This is by no means a new theory; Elie Metchnikoff proposed over century ago that targeting consuming lactic acid bacteria such as those yogurt, could improve or delay onset cognitive decline associated with ageing. However, limited information characterising relationship between behavioural and physiological sequelae ageing alterations microbiome. To this end, we assessed behavioural, caecal microbiota profile aged male mice. Older mice (20-21months old) exhibited deficits spatial memory increases anxiety-like behaviours compared to younger (2-3months old). They also permeability, which was directly correlated elevations peripheral pro-inflammatory cytokines. Furthermore, stress exacerbated permeability Examination revealed significant phylum TM7, family Porphyromonadaceae genus Odoribacter represents shift towards previously inflammatory disease, particularly gastrointestinal liver disorders. Porphyromonadaceae, affective disorders, behaviour These changes suggest inflammation may be important mediators impairments functions seen
