摘要: This paper introduces a schema for classifying research in mathematics education that deepens and extends the Romberg/Bourne model. It employs dual hierarchical systems, one relating to task other technique. The six categories—descriptive, interpretive, prescriptive, analytic, synthetic, theoretic—are defined with respect breadth, depth, scope of study. technique categories—reflective, referential, evidential, clinical, empirical, experimental—are terms utilization resources design intentions investigator. pairing categories permits creation classification matrix education. By examining location studies within this task-technique matrix, both producers consumers can discern historical trends influencing current future investigations.
