摘要: The implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) is an example of effective intervention with high up-front costs and delayed benefits. It has become a proven well-accepted therapy not only for secondary but also primary prevention sudden cardiac death in patients ischemic non-ischemic heart disease. In recent years, the international guidelines have extended indications to prophylactic ICD, increasing number eligible and, together, financial challenges widespread implementation. this article, we review available economic tools that can help address ICD cost issue. We think awareness such knowledge may facilitate dialogues between physicians, administrators policy-makers, foster rational decision making.
