摘要: Plant compounds such as flavonoids have been reported to exert beneficial effects in cardiovascular disease, including hypertension. Information on the of isolated individual for management high blood pressure, however, is more limited. This review focused flavonoids, outside food matrix, from 5 main subgroups consumed Western diet (flavones, flavonols, flavanones, flavan-3-ols, and anthocyanins), along with their hypertension, potential mechanisms regulating pressure. Flavonoids all shown attenuate a rise or reduce pressure during several pathological conditions (hypertension, metabolic syndrome, diabetes mellitus). Flavones, flavanols were able modulate by restoring endothelial function, either directly, affecting nitric oxide levels, indirectly, through other pathways. Quercetin had most consistent pressure-lowering effect animal human studies, irrespective dose, duration, disease status. However, further research safety efficacy required before any them can be used humans, presumably supplement form, at doses therapeutic benefit.
