Suppressive control of the crustacean pyloric network by a pair of identified interneurons. I. Modulation of the motor pattern

摘要: A pair of identified neuromodulatory neurons, the pyloric suppressor (PS) can individually and strongly modify activity network in stomatogastric nervous system lobster Homarus gammarus. The PS neurons are by location their somata inferior ventricular nerve, axonal projections, effects on vitro. Discharge a neuron evokes large EPSPs dilator (PD) long-lasting cessation rhythmic that control movements filter: PD, lateral (LP), (PY). This outlast several 10s seconds brief discharge lasting only few seconds. different filter do not exhibit same sensitivity to suppressive PS, with LP being most sensitive. Tonic induces graded alterations pattern, depending its firing frequency. At low (less than 5 Hz) frequencies, provokes changes phase relationships duration bursting neurons. slight increase frequency suppresses some resulting switch from triphasic biphasic pattern. higher (greater 10 all including pacemakers (PD, anterior burster), is abolished, except cells (ventricular dilator, cardiac) controlling valve. We conclude central pattern generator subject activating modulatory control, but may also be target inputs themselves able provoke functional reconfigurations network.
