摘要: Abstract Betanodaviruses and megalocytiviruses are the causative agents of viral nervous necrosis iridoviral disease, respectively, among marine species farmed in Taiwan. Because there few cell lines susceptible to these viruses, we wished identify additional with which study pathology epidemiology. Thus, established two clonal designated GBC1 GBC4 from brain an orange-spotted grouper, Epinephelus coioides. Both grew well Leibovitz's L-15 medium supplemented 5% (GBC1) or 10% (GBC4) fetal bovine serum at temperatures between 20 °C 35 °C. Cytokeratin immunofluorescence staining revealed that both were epithelial origin. cells expressed glial fibril acidic protein suggesting, they astroglial lineage cells. The modal diploid chromosome number was 44 48 for GBC4, respectively. highly grouper nerve virus (GNNV) yielded titers 1010 TCID50 ml− 1 but non-susceptible giant seaperch iridovirus (GSIV). By contrast, GSIV approaching 109 whereas GNNV infection only 106 TCID50 ml− 1. propagated across a wide range (15–37 °C) over 15–30 °C. Induction Mx upon occurred not GBC1, suggesting inhibits production. Our results suggest provide valuable tool isolation investigation betanodavirus megalocytivirus.
