摘要: Twenty-five patients with active, chronic osteomyelitis, resistant to conventional management, were treated surgical debridement and daily application of electrically activated silver dressings. Sixteen (64%) cases resulted in closed, stable, pain-free wounds, the remainder resulting persistent drainage or amputation. Nine 12 complicated by nonunion achieved union. In 13 an open-bone graft was performed treatment continued: these tended remain free purulent but fared no better than average long-term follow-up. The anode dressing seems be effective aid bone infection when combined adequate debridement, thereby reducing need for prolonged systemic antibiotics.
