摘要: In an attempt to correlate host and parasite-related events occurring during the course of a primary Giardia infection in mouse we have measured epithelial cell kinetics, enzymes, intraepithelial lymphocytes at different stages infection. New methods were developed for accurate measurement parasite numbers distribution within gut. jejunum modest decrease villus length week 1 preceded pronounced disaccharidase deficiency 2, time maximum trophozoite numbers, whereas crypt lengthening increased production became maximal 3. As fell lymphocyte count values rose. With exception count, which followed same pattern as but two weeks later, changes seen ileum opposite those jejunum, suggesting rapid ileal adaptation. The results indicate that associated with giardiasis is likely represent direct effect on brush border rather than enterocyte immaturity, response reflects immunity parasite. Profound adaptive occur throughout small intestine relatively localised insult.
