摘要: Infected immunocompetent mice were studied prospectively in a well-described murine model system with the use of ultrastructural techniques to establish normal distribution Giardia muris trophozoites, their relationships intestinal mucosa, particularly Peyer's patches, and structural indications reaction intestine immune organs. Trophozoites colonized proximal 25% intestine, adhered microvilli columnar cells near bases villi, wedged into furrows epithelial surface, or lodged mucus within unstirred layer. Density trophozoite colonization jejunal epithelium correlated stool cyst excretion. Over not M-cells, which transport soluble antigens particulate material from lumen lymphoid system. entered structures by incursions through defects follicle barrier. During clearance parasites, lymphocytes crossed attached lumen. produced no apparent damage but elicited previously undescribed intraluminal cellular response during host.
