摘要: Hepatitis B and C are serious public health problems worldwide. Thalassemia patients dependent on blood transfusions throughout their life at high risk of viral infections. The aim this study was to estimate the prevalence hepatitis B/C infections different clinical parameters in multitransfused thalassemia population. In study, 262 β-thalassemia were enrolled from capital twin cities Pakistan. presence virus (HBV)/hepatitis (HCV), alanine aminotransferase (ALT) level, serum creatinine, ferritin, hepatomegaly, splenomegaly, splenectomy analyzed. overall HBV HCV 3.08% 55.73%, respectively, with 100% older than 20 years had infection. ALT levels among HBV- HCV-positive 92.62 ± 41.57 U/L 98 63.65 U/L, respectively; creatinine values observed 0.4 0.35 mg/dL (for HBV) 0.39 0.24 HCV), while ferritin 6865.87 1649.13 ng/dL 5445.95 3059.28 HCV). A total 74.8% 82.20% hepatomegaly an average increase liver size 4.17 4.33 cm, respectively. Splenomegaly 64.9% 67.12% spleen 4 4.46 Splenectomy 14.50% 15.75% HCV-infected patients. There is a strong need properly screen before reduce future load
