摘要: When water is adsorbed on Pt(111) above 135K several different ice structures crystallize, depending the thickness of layer. At low coverage forms extended islands with a (√37×√37)R25° unit cell, which compresses as monolayer saturates to form (√39×√39)R16° structure. The √39 low-energy electron diffraction (LEED) pattern becomes more intense second layer grows, remaining bright for films up 10–15 layers and then fading disappearing than ca. 40 thick. multilayer consists an ordered wetting layer, grows crystalline film progressively loses its registry Ice 50 thick develop hexagonal LEED pattern, entire reorienting incommensurate bulk ice.
