摘要: Expression of the GAL genes Saccharomyces cerevisiae is subject to glucose repression, a global regulatory mechanism that requires several gene products. We have isolated GAL83, one these required for repression. The sequence predicted Gal83 protein homologous two other yeast proteins, Sip1p and Sip2p, which are known interact with SNF1 product, kinase expression genes. High-copy clones SIP1 SIP2 cross-complement GAL83-2000 mutation (as well as GAL82-1, in another involved repression), suggesting four may perform similar functions Consistent this hypothesis, gal83 null does not affect only dominant or partially mutations exist GAL83 (and GAL82). Two observations were made suggests interdependently GAL82 REG1 (another repression) effect repression: 1) on low-copy plasmid cross-complements GAL82-1 mutations, 2) all pairwise combinations reg1, fail complement another. Such unlinked noncomplementation Gal83p, Gal82p Reg1p Possible roles discussed relation SNF1, SIP2.
