Nontuberculous Mycobacterial Musculoskeletal Infection Cases from a Tertiary Referral Center, Colorado, USA.

摘要: Nontuberculous mycobacteria represent an uncommon but important cause of infection the musculoskeletal system. Such infections require aggressive medical and surgical treatment, cases are often complicated by delayed diagnosis. We retrospectively reviewed all 14 nonspinal nontuberculous mycobacterial treated over 6 years orthopedic surgeons at a university-affiliated tertiary referral center. All patients required multiple antimicrobial agents along with treatment; 13 ultimately achieved cure. Four amputation to control infection. Half these were immunosuppressed medications or other illness when they sought care Six involved joint prostheses; hardware removal placement spacer for eradication Our findings highlight importance vigilance infection, particularly in who have history surgery.
