摘要: Atrazine has been implicated in reproductive dysfunction of exposed organisms, and previous studies documented decreased egg production Japanese medaka (Oryzias latipes) fathead minnows (Pimephales promelas) during 30-d to 38-d exposures 0.5 µg/L, 5 µg/L, 50 µg/L atrazine. The authors evaluated possible mechanisms underlying the reduction production. Gene expression steroidogenesis pathways hypothalamus-pituitary-gonad axis male female fish was measured. did not significantly induce gonad aromatase (cyp19a1a) expression. An atrazine-induced shift number females an active state observed. Expression maturation genes vitellogenin 1 (vtg1) zona pellucida glycoprotein 3.1 (zp3.1) correlated had a bimodal distribution. In both species, with low vtg1 or zp3.1 also gonad, estrogen receptor liver, gonadotropins brain. medaka, per tank that high tank. increased atrazine exposure. Thus, decline observed response exposure may be result coordinated downregulation required for reproduction subset females. Environ Toxicol Chem 2016;35:2230-2238.
