摘要: Abstract Variations in the level and distribution of monoterpene synthase activities stem samples 46 grand fir saplings maintained under controlled conditions were investigated using sensitive, non-destructive bioanalytical techniques that permitted assessment constitutive, wound-induced ethylene modulated biosynthetic capability each individual. Radiochemically-based vitro assays, with [1- 3 H]geranyl diphosphate as substrate, revealed considerable quantitative variation constitutive induced response levels total activity, analysis generated cell-free extracts allowed definition seven distinct chemotypes. No correlation was observed between capacity chemotype, indicating both broad qualitative oleoresin production exists this native population fir. The implications these findings for oleoresin-based defense against bark beetle predation are described.
