摘要: Background Osteoarthritis is the most frequent chronic joint disease causing pain and disability. Besides biomechanical mechanisms, pathogenesis of osteoarthritis may involve inflammation, vascular alterations dysregulation lipid metabolism. As statins are able to modulate many these processes, this study examines whether statin use associated with a decreased incidence and/or progression osteoarthritis. Methods Participants in prospective population-based cohort aged 55 years older (n=2921) were included. x-Rays knee/hip obtained at baseline after on average 6.5 years, scored using Kellgren Lawrence score for Any increase was defined as overall (incidence progression). Data covariables collected baseline. Information during follow-up from computerised pharmacy databases. The compared between users non-users statins. Using multivariate logistic regression model generalised estimating equation, OR 95% CI calculated adjusting confounding variables. Results Overall knee hip occurred 6.9% 4.7% cases, respectively. adjusted 0.43 (95% 0.25 0.77, p=0.01). not Conclusions Statin more than 50% reduction knee, but hip.
