摘要: Two doses of 750-μg levonorgestrel at 12 h apart is one the regimens for emergency contraception. The mechanism action this regimen not fully known. We investigated whether influences sperm functions and thereby, exerts contraceptive activity. motility, acrosome reaction, zona binding capacity, oocyte fusion capacity human spermatozoa treated with 1, 10, 100 ng/mL 3 were evaluated. Levonorgestrel decreased curvilinear velocity in a dose-dependent manner. A significant decrease straight-line velocity, average path linearity also found treatment. This concentration levonorgestrel, but others, marginally (p = 0.045) spermatozoa. steroid had no effect on reaction inhibition spermatozoa-oocyte fusion. These data show that affects function only high contribution these effects to contraception unlikely be significant.
