摘要: Escherichia coli is an important opportunistic pathogen. It can cause sepsis and severe infection. The application of lytic bacteriophages to treat infectious diseases alternative antibiotics. A phage, designated IME-EC2, was isolated from hospital sewage. Transmission electron microscopy revealed that IME-EC2 be a member the family Podoviridae. had 60-nm head 15-nm tail. Here, we present complete genome sequence this which consists 41,510 bp with overall G+C content 59.2 %. total 60 coding sequences (CDS) were identified, phage does not contain any tRNA genes. Forty percent unknown CDSs are unique IME-EC2. This show significant similarity other phages at DNA level, suggests could novel phage. One features identified in gene for putative colanic-acid-degrading protein, allow degrade bacterial capsule biofilms. Another feature terminase small subunit, may have packaging mechanism. work provides information on shows or its products exploited destroy biofilms pathogenic E. coli.
