摘要: Since 1984, when the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) became generally available to research laboratories, full power of modern molecular biology and genetic analysis has been focused on 9749 nucleotides which make up viral genome. The first descriptions HIV provided evidence for reverse transcriptase activity as well circumstantial existence a proteinase. In 1985, cloning sequence determination revealed putative gag pol open reading frames. known retroviruses, these frames are translated into gag-pol fusion polyproteins, subsequently processed mature proteins, at least in part by virally encoded On basis nucleotide sequence, it was suggested (Ratner et al., 1985) that frame proteinase analogous those other retroviral proteinases.
