摘要: Rhipicephalus sanguineus is a tick species described in 1806 by Latreille, based on specimens probably collected France. However, this taxon with uncertain morphological definition and recent studies have gathered irrefutable evidence supporting the existence of cryptic species-complex under name 'R. sanguineus', whose number sibling around world has yet to be ascertained. This fact great medical veterinary concern, also considering that ticks currently identified as sanguineus' been regarded proven or putative vectors several pathogens infecting dogs humans. Differences distribution prevalence some these microorganisms (e.g., Ehrlichia canis Hepatozoon canis) further support distinct suggest vector competence may vary. article provides an account taxonomy role belonging R. group light research.
