Pediatric acute and chronic rhinosinusitis: comparison of clinical characteristics and outcome of treatment.

摘要: Background Rhinosinusitis (RS) is a common problem in children. There are very few published studies comparing acute rhinosinusitis (ARS) and chronic (CRS) Objective To determine the clinical manifestations children with ARS CRS. Methods One hundred fifty-four patients diagnosis of RS were enrolled. was defined as persistent symptoms for more than 10 days but less 4 weeks CRS longer 8 weeks. Patients interviewed to obtain demographic data. Physical findings medications recorded. All underwent radiographic studies. Allergy immunological testing done selected case. data compared between groups. Results three classified having fifty-one had Their mean (+/- SD) age 5.9 +/- 3.3 years. Allergic rhinitis group. The most main complaints cough rhinorrhea. no significant difference both groups, except periorbital pain sleep apnea which found frequently Sixty five percents 58.8% abnormal x-ray findings. Adenoid hypertrophy overall improvement after 14.6 3.82 22.35 5.04 (mean) antibiotic treatment respectively. None patient sinus surgery. Conclusion rhinorrhea cough. allergic higher risk developing rhinosinusitis. successfully treated medical treatment.
