摘要: Temporal lobe epilepsy, the most common form of human epilepsy,1 is often associated with hippocampal sclerosis (HS), epileptogenic lesion.2 This condition referred to as mesial temporal epilepsy (MTLE) HS.3 Perhaps in recognition importance MTLE HS a major health burden worldwide, large percentage research on now utilizes animal models this disorder. Whereas kindling was popular model during 1970s and’ 80s, it has been largely replaced recent years by chronic post status epilepticus induced excitotoxic substances such kainic acid (KA) and pilocarpine (Pilo), or tetanic stimulation produce self-sustained (SSSE).4 chapter will briefly review examine strengths weaknesses these various experimental for investigating mechanisms underlying condition.
