摘要: In the developing field of biological psychiatry, DISC1 stands out by virtue there being credible evidence, both genetic and biological, for a role in determining susceptibility to schizophrenia related disorders. We highlight methodologic paradigm that led identification review supporting evidence. The original finding as gene disrupted balanced translocation on chromosome 1q42 segregates with schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, recurrent major depression has sparked number confirmatory linkage association studies. These indicate is generalizable risk factor psychiatric illness also influences cognition healthy subjects. been shown interact proteins neurobiological pedigrees, including Ndel1 (NUDEL), key regulator neuronal migration endo-oligopeptidase activity, PDE4B, phosphodiesterase critical cyclic adenosine monophosphate signaling directly linked learning, memory, mood. Both are potential "drug" targets. thus emerged molecular player etiology mental normal brain processes.
