摘要: The relapse rate after discontinuation of antiepileptic drug treatment was investigated in 146 children with epilepsy, whom medication withdrawn according to a predesigned protocol, seizure-free period at least 2 years and normalization the EEG. cumulative probability remaining this series 74.5%. Three-quarters relapses occurred during withdrawal thereafter. From multivariate analysis, factors indicating significantly higher risk were seizures known cause female sex. In primary generalized no factor increased likelihood recurrence. partial significant predictive recurrence presence neurological deficit (focal signs and/or mental retardation), sex, positive family history for number drugs necessary control seizures. present results are compared available literature data. It is argued that using analysis elimination EEG variables uncovers clinical other studies may have remained hidden. Finally, it statistical be used enable clinician predict individual given set relevant factors.
