摘要: In the current study we showed that oral administration of an aqueous extract Passiflora quadrangularis L., Passifloraceae, pericarp results in a significant prolongation sleep duration mice evaluated ethyl ether-induced hypnosis test which indicates sedative effects. Apigenin, main flavonoid extract, induced similar response when applied alone, at dose equivalent to found suggesting apigenin is mediating effects P. extract. addition, effect was blocked by pretreatment with benzodiazepine antagonist flumazenil (1 mg/kg), interaction gamma-aminobutyric acid type A (GABAA) receptors. However, concentrations 0.1–50 µM failed enhance GABA-induced currents through GABAA receptors (α1β2γ2S) expressed Xenopus oocytes. Nevertheless, based on our results, suggest vivo and its maybe be due enhancement GABAergic system.
