Bay of Biscay and Ibero Atlantic anchovy populations and their fisheries

摘要: SUMMARY: A review is presented about the state of knowledge on biology, fisheries and population dynamics anchovy inhabiting southern areas Atlantic European coasts, from Bay Biscay to Cadiz. During current century important parallel changes in catches these coasts have occurred. Those interactions between climatic environment abundance suggest that plays a key role determining evolution those populations. good example small pelagic species: short life span (maximum 3-4 years), seasonal migrations, intense growth, early maturity (at its first birthday), schooling behaviour especially spring at spawning time abundant dependent occupation habitat (spawning area expands high levels concentrates low levels). The large year variability populations, according changing recruitment, makes scientific monitoring advice fishery difficult. At moment, no management has been implemented by EU.
