Neural cell adhesion molecule expression and messenger RNA splicing patterns in lung cancer cell lines are correlated with neuroendocrine phenotype and growth morphology.

摘要: Diverse histological types of lung cancer express neuroendocrine (NE) markers. We studied the expression and alternative splicing forms neural cell adhesion molecule (NCAM) NKH-1, a member immunoglobulin superfamily, in 56 lines representing all types. found strong correlation between NCAM with both NE phenotype lack substrate culture. Several expressed high levels leukocyte antigen Leu-7 (HNK-1) but were negative for mRNA, indicating that is distinct from NCAM. All NCAM-positive demonstrate single 6.2-kilobase analysis known 3′ splices shows predominant only membrane form small intracytoplasmic domain. conclude ( ) associated regardless type cancer; b these share NCAM; c few exceptions, to (growing as floating clusters); d This may play functional role differentiation or be part program by cells.
