摘要: The objective of this study was to investigate the effect arginine-rich coconut kernel protein (CKP) on alloxan-induced diabetes in comparison with l-arginine and an antidiabetic drug, glibenclamide. 1-month-old 24 male Sprague–Dawley rats, weighing 130–150 g, were randomly divided into five groups: group I-normal control, II-diabetic III-diabetic + CKP, IV-diabetic l-arginine, V-diabetic glibenclamide (0.6 mg/100 g body weight). rats induced by injecting a single dose alloxan (150 weight) intraperitoneally. After experimental period, various parameters analyzed. results showed that diabetic treated arginine, reduced serum glucose had no significant total content compared control. Serum urea level found be comparatively arginine-, CKP-, glibenclamide-treated rats. Toxicological analysis delivered significantly SGOT, SGPT ALP activities basal level. Histopathological also comparable reversible CKP pancreatic damage respect arginine These clearly indicate non-toxic properties possibly mediated through arginine.
