Scanning tunneling spectroscopy studies of angle-dependent van Hove singularities on twisted graphite surface layer

摘要: Slightly misoriented surface graphene layer on highly ordered pyrolytic graphite (HOPG) can result in Moire patterns (MP). Two van Hove singularity (VHS) peaks the density of states are observed with scanning tunneling spectroscopy a series MPs different periods HOPG surface, flanking Fermi energy. The energy difference between two VHS (ΔEVHS) is linearly proportional to sine interlayer rotation angle. A similar relation ΔEVHS and MP has recently been reported twisted layers. Compared case layers, velocity found be larger, hopping enhanced.
