摘要: Eurycoma longifolia (EL) extract has attracted a lot of consumer interests. However, the production EL long been affected by issues low yield and weak quality assurance. Two main processing units in extraction that are solidliquid spray drying, became focus this research work. A study on optimization both processes followed scaling up using dimensional analysis similarity were conducted to increase improve extract. Crude 8.8 ± 0.6% (w/w) was obtained under following optimal conditions at laboratory scale: 53 minutes extraction, solvent raw material ratio 12.5:1 particle size 0.5 1.0 mm. Process efficiency 39.6% achieved drying process (without carrier agent) which conditions: air inlet temperature 137 oC, pressure 8 psi feed flow rate 2.3 ml/min. The extracts before after analysed. Spray resulted loss all marker compounds with protein being highest 87.7%. To retention compounds, microencapsulation agent considered. Microencapsulation scleroglucan (sclg) scale best 72.3%, optimum 185 4.5 ml/min, sclg concentration 3.8% (w/w). optimized final product 4.54% when without 45.0% sclg, respectively. process, dimensionless number denoted as ShSc-1 proposed based fitted data. Using data scale, 0.0312 conditions. Taking into account rule P/V constant scale-up factor 7.6, pilot works 0.0376 (the closest lab-scale value) satisfactorily produced 8.65% an error 0.06%. Due dissimilarity physical dryers, performed only. pilot-scale 2.5% 29.2% 71.7%, (with exception polysaccharides) quite consistent scale. outcome work demonstrated useful knowledge from had successfully obtained.
