Regional land use basin, Ceara State, resulted doubling area from (0.71 km 2 ) 2004 (1.44 ). Most of increase was replacing salt marsh vegetation inland, but also along newly formed islands enlarged river banks. Drastic reduction freshwater supply sediment accumulation damming were probably major drivers increased cover. However, global climate can not be ruled out.
