摘要: A high-speed optical modulator based on Surface Plasmon-Polariton (SPP) at the hetero-junction of a metal-insulator-semiconductor (MIS) tunneling diode and including phase-matching element, such as prism or gold-lattice structure, is described. An investigation using coupled mode theory shows that applied bias across changes reflectance an optically MIS diode, prism-coupled gold lattice-coupled while modulation efficiency achievable device depends thickness metal film used to construct diode.
