Reducing the length of stay after kidney transplantation--the intensive outpatient unit.

摘要: The need to reduce the costs associated with initial hospitalization for kidney transplantation has led development of outpatient facilities in which patients can be seen on a daily basis. implementation transplant intensive unit (IOPU) is described. Prior opening IOPU, median and mean lengths stay after our program were 14.0 18.9 d, respectively. Subsequent have gradually decreased are currently 5.0 7.5 inpatient cost transplantation, excluding organ acquisition charges, by 54%, from $25516 $11616. Patient satisfaction exceeded 80%. IOPU represents an effective means reducing without sacrificing quality care.
