摘要: We describe an indoor, room-level location discovery method based on spatial variations in “wifi signatures,” i.e., MAC addresses and signal strengths of existing wireless access points. The principal novelty our system is its organic nature; it builds strength maps from the natural mobility lightweight contributions ordinary users, rather than dedicated effort by a team site surveyors. Whenever user’s personal device observes unrecognized signature, GUI solicits location. resulting location-tagged signature or “bind” then shared with other clients through common database, enabling devices subsequently arriving there to discover no further user contribution. Realizing working deployment required three novel elements: (1) human-computer interface for indicating over intervals varying duration; (2) client-server protocol pre-fetching data use localization; (3) location-estimation algorithm incorporating highly variable data. experimental nine-story building more 1,400 distinct spaces served 200 At conclusion deployment, users could correctly localize within 10 meters 92% time.
