Effect of semi-solid forging on microstructure and mechanical properties of in-situ cast Al-Cu-TiB2 composites

摘要: The present work deals with the effect of semisolid processing on microstructure and mechanical properties Al-4.5% Cu – 5% TiB2 in-situ cast composites. composite was prepared by flux assisted synthesis in which particles were formed through an exothermic reaction between K2TiF6 KBF4 halide salts. Al-4.5 wt% alloy Cu-5% samples forged state 0.3 vol fraction liquid. Semisolid forging carried out for two forge reductions (30% 50% reductions). Microstructure studies show that semi-solid results uniform distribution Al2Cu composite. Further, play a dual role as grain refiners well reinforcements EBSD nano indentation shows dynamic recrystallization grains significant refinement leads to marked increase hardness elastic modulus
