Addressing the needs of new mothers in a multi-cultural setting: an evaluation of home visiting support for new mothers - Mom to Mom (Negev).

摘要: This study evaluated the Mom to (M2M) program operating in Negev region of Israel, an area with a high proportion immigrants. M2M helps women cope first year parenting through home visits volunteer mothers. Specific objectives were evaluate (1) Participants' motivations for joining M2M; (2) Gains from participation; and (3) The effect participation on post-partum depression (PPD). Three stages included Analysis demographics all 440 mothers A telephone survey 51 assess gains 137 filled out Edinburgh Post-Natal Depression Scale (EPDS) followed one year. Most time mothers, rate perinatal complications (54.4%) positive EPDS scores (38.7%). Two major reasons being immigrant having low income. greatest increased self-confidence, improved skills communication partner. Seventy-nine percent PPD symptoms functioning at work after program. Our findings suggest that has capacity address challenges post-natal period among diverse cultures.
