摘要: Understanding the circuit mechanisms behind motion detection is a long-standing question in visual neuroscience. In Drosophila melanogaster, recently discovered synapse-level connectomes optic lobe, particularly ON-pathway (T4) receptive-field circuits, concert with physiological studies, suggest model that increasingly intricate when compared ubiquitous Hassenstein-Reichardt model. By contrast, our knowledge of OFF-pathway (T5) has been incomplete. Here, we present conclusive and comprehensive connectome that, for first time, integrates detailed connectivity information inputs to both T4 T5 pathways single EM dataset covering entire lobe. With novel reconstruction methods using automated synapse prediction suited such large connectome, successfully corroborate previous findings pathway comprehensively identify receptive fields T5. Although two are probably evolutionarily linked exhibit many similarities, uncover interesting differences interactions may underlie their distinct functional properties.
