摘要: The analysis of linearity is a key aspect the study dominance hierarchies. To effect choice socio-spatial level analysis, we calculated in large set southern elephant seal (Mirounga leonina) hierarchies from two populations (Valdes Peninsula and Falkland Islands). affects observational effort, completeness matrices, frequency unknown relationships. These factors, turn, have notable on linearity. We conclude that should be studied at local level, where absence structural zeros low incidence produce complete well rooted true spatial social structure population. Depending specific system, extrapolation to higher levels may result sparse biased estimates variation part explain contrasting results obtained different studies
