摘要: Several recent SEER- (Surveillance, Epidemiology and End Results-) analyses gave rise to a highly controversial discussion in how far radiotherapy for prostate cancer is associated with an increased risk of secondary neoplasms. In order enable rational discussion, the available literature was reviewed covering all publications from mid 80s January 2007. The reported numbers (bladder, rectum, lung sarcoma) after irradiation were found be some publications. However, age adjustment correction follow-up duration no clear increase detectable. Up now, data are heterogeneous. Thus, low cannot ruled out completely. Nevertheless, it seems very unlikely that there relevant since largest published series did not document any cancer. Only large prospective studies which designed minimize influence possible confounders will able address real irradiation-related induction. clearly valid helpful guiding treatment decision.
