Efficient domino synthesis of benzimidazole derivatives: copper catalysis versus transition metal-free conditions

摘要: Abstract An efficient and facile assembly of 2-substituted benzimidazoles 2-benzimidazolones has been developed. Under very mild copper catalysis or transition metal-free conditions, a wide range the 2-alkyl/alkenyl benzimidazole derivatives can be conveniently selectively synthesized through domino reactions o-haloarylcarbodiimides with active methylene species. Interesting complimentary effect was discovered under two different sets conditions. Furthermore, series 1,3-disubstituted were facilely assembled from α,β-unsaturated esters.
