摘要: Background: Inflammation of retinal vessels is a known association systemic tuberculosis. Patients with vasculitis are subjected to extensive but unrewarding workup. Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) now commonly used detect DNA infective organisms including Mycobacterium This study was undertaken characterize the clinical characteristics PCR-positive tubercular so as determine presentation associated features management and course this form vasculitis. Methods: The records 13 patients seen between 1997 1999 diagnosis from aqueous or vitreous humor were reviewed. Recorded data included age sex race visual acuity anterior posterior segment findings results diagnostic evaluations. All received antituberculosis therapy without concomitant corticosteroids. Laser scatter photocoagulation done in eyes neovascularization. One eye hemorrhage pars plana vitrectomy. Results: There 9 (69.2%) male 4 (30.7%) female median 20 years. disease bilateral seven. most consistent finding presence vitritis all followed by snowball opacities 17 (89.4%) neovascularization 11 (57.8%) hemorrhages 10 (52.6%) neuroretinitis focal choroiditis (47.3%) vitreous/preretinal 5 (26.3%) serous detachment 3 (15.7%). Over follow-up 12 months showed resolution no recurrences. Conclusions: reaction-posltive had varied fundus findings. Its recognition important order only relevant tests. (authors)
