摘要: INTRODUCTION: Despite the high prevalence and rates of mortality colorectal cancer, it is likely to be a secondary prevention disease due presentation characteristics that are ideal for successful screening program, with proven positive impact on its outcome. OBJECTIVE: To describe knowledge practice physicians concerning tests cancer. METHODS: Cross-sectional study carried out between November 2011 February 2012, through questionnaire administered 83 who assist adult patients at University Hospital Universidade Luterana do Brasil basic health units Canoas, Rio Grande Sul, Brazil. RESULTS: From number participating in survey, only 35 (42.0%) reported prescribing cancer screening. Out these, 21 used aged 50 years old or more, as recommended by guidelines. Only 65.0% investigating family history surgical experts were ones least investigated this risk factor (p=0.005), when compared clinical gynecology specialties. CONCLUSIONS: The ordering still low, their regarding recommendations guidelines very limited. results indicate immediate need investment professional formation medical staff training preventive measures
