Public Awareness of Stroke in Korea A Population-Based National Survey

摘要: Background and Purpose—To date, no large study has been conducted to investigate baseline stroke awareness within a nationally representative sample of the Korean population. Methods—A total 1000 residents were randomly sampled according regional demographic characteristics interviewed in person by trained interviewers. Structured, open-ended close-ended questions asked assess awareness. Results—Among respondents, 62% reported at least 1 symptom 56% risk factor for questioning. Multivariate analysis revealed that completion ≥12 years education was independently associated with knowledge symptoms (OR, 1.527; 95% CI, 1.146–2.034) factors 1.577; 1.175–2.115).
